Time seems to fly by no matter where we are!
I thought these days would go slowly but here we are at the one week point in our time down here on the ranch. It has rained every single day we have been here and today it rained pretty much all day long!
I love our camper mornings! It smells like a cozy coffee shop in here and it was especially nice this morning with the rain coming down. We sat outside for about a half hour with our coffee before the rain started and it was chilly enough for a sweater!
Louis Dean spent a couple of hours playing his guitar and singing.
I set my art table up again and painted for a few hours.
My step son took a picture of a beautiful sunset last year and I have been meaning to paint it ever since. Finally, I started a small canvas and based it in. I used the photo as my wallpaper so I could see it as I painted.
I also started a fun painting of wine bottles with a glass and cheese.
It took about 5 minutes to sketch it in using Paynes Gray thinned with turp.
Then I based painted the entire canvas in about 45 minutes.
I think I'm really going to like it!
So I worked on three art projects while I've been here. Perhaps next month when we're here I can paint outside!
It was late afternoon when the rain finally stopped.
Louis Dean and I had both napped and read and were ready to get outside and stretch our legs.
Mushrooms spring up overnight!
We walked down to the lower meadow and I just loved hearing all the birds and frogs.
I never tire of hearing these sounds......
This is the creek that runs along the back of the ranch.
With all the rain, Texas has recovered from the terrible drought!!
Nearly all of our lakes are full and some are overflowing.
There's a beauty even in the muddy water.
We had hot showers in the bathhouse which is down past the chicken coops.
Except for the squishy ground you would never think it had rained all day!
I almost missed this sunset! I came in to clean up the art table and glanced up just in time!
Grabbed my camera and went back outside!!
Camper/Ranch life has been simple today.
I think we are just about rested up now and Louis Dean is talking about home.
Soon. Soon enough.
And thus ends our day........
So did I!!!
It all sounds so relaxing and peaceful. I could enjoy a few more weeks! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your painting!

You can always see the very best in any bad situation! But I am so sorry about the weather. Do you have another week? Maybe it will have great weather. You are really an artist, you must have had professional lessons. You talk and paint just like an artist. Everything you paint looks professional
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely way to show your week. Love the sunset today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice relaxing day! Pretty sunset !
ReplyDeleteYou take whatever comes and make it into a good thing. All that rain might have annoyed me to no end. I might have wondered why God allowed it all to fall on my vacation. LOL! Might have? Probably would have. Your response is far more refreshing.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I loved how you described the way your camper smelled. :) You are a fast painter. Great new paintings. You sound like me, if I see a sunsets that pretty I tried to get a picture of it. I am always saying to Ted I'll be right back in, got to get a couple pictures . I never dreamed when I was younger that I would ever be old. We just never thought of things like that. . Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYou have had such a good week in spite of the weather. I loved seeing your little Maddie. She looks so much like my Snowy.
ReplyDeleteLoved all of your paintings. You have a real talent. You should paint the sunset picture you took today. It's beautiful!
I love your wine bottle painting Linda!! You are so talented! I agree with your picture that says I thought growing old would take longer. I will turn 60 on Sunday...seems the years have flown by!
ReplyDeleteThere's a beauty even in the muddy water !
ReplyDeleteI love this statement !! I need to make this a sign!
This all sounds soo relaxing and peaceful. It reminds me of our summer vacations when I was a girl growing up. We owned a cabin in the mountains and spent most of our summers there. It usually rained every day. It smelled SOO wonderful. There was no TV and so we read, and played board games and went on wonderful long hikes. I loved it there. So glad you are getting this restful break. Soak it up and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI think Bud and I were born old. LOL [kidding]
ReplyDeleteLOVE the spectacular sunset. And walking back from the bathhouse...that is a great photo.
Such a relaxing beautiful week you've had ... regardless of the rain.
ahhh...sweet rain...we've had more than normal here and it is raining really hard right this minute....goood sleeping tonight.
ReplyDeleteKeep on having fun....xoxo
What a great time you've had this week despite the rain. Your painting are just marvelous. Do you use acrylics? That wine glass looks so real, I ready to take a sip. Loved the flower story you share on my post. Hugs and prayers for a safe trip home.
ReplyDeleteLinda I am already looking forward to your next trip to the ranch, I love all your photographs and your peaceful days. X
