That's the story of my life these days! I am having a hard time keeping up!
Even my paper and pen journal got complicated when I wrote what happened on the 9th of April in the block for the 16th!
The quads arrived for their Wednesday Visit!
It is still hard to get a pic of them where ALL their faces show.
They were fascinated with the lawn guys!
We did a little bit of lots of things yesterday!
Chalk is always a hit - for a few precious minutes!
We all wandered along the flower beds stopping to smell the roses and touch the flowers.
As lunch time approached, Granddad gathered them all into the guest room so I could cook in the kitchen without eight little legs stepping all around me!
I handed out play money to the kids this morning so they were busy 'shopping.'
They are at the age now where they LOVE sticking things into any hole or crevice they can find!
Trystan stuck all her coins in the play toaster! NO WAY to get them out!
Whenever I sit down at my sewing machine - as I did that afternoon to repair a tear in Harrison's pajama bottoms - I find the colored round heads of straight pins stuck into any hole or slot they can reach on my sewing machine.
I love to see and hear these little children pray.
Logan always folds her hands a certain way while Trystan puts hers together a different way.
Harrison said a much shorter prayer so he was on to eating!
Naps!!! Those awesome two golden hours when all is quiet.
I read TWO chapters of Farmer Boy before three out of four were asleep.
Kailey was the hold out but I simply put my pillow down beside hers and joined her on the floor and within minutes we were BOTH sound asleep!
All four are pretty much potty trained now.
You still have to ask them sometimes if they need to use it but most of the time they go off to the bathroom alone. I love it!!!
I have a hamper full of clothes I have picked up at the thrift stores as well as those items that were in the laundry after their baths the week before.
They generally like to change outfits after naps.
Kailey decided to wear this pair of coveralls so she could look like 'GANNDAD!!'
Kailey loves to be like 'GANDDAD!'
The other two picked out cute dresses!
Harrison was comfortable just the way he was!
We all look forward to snack time!
Often we have a tea party but this day I chose a different treat!
Root Beer Floats!!
They were a BIG hit!!!
Trystan told me that she has pretty red hair!
Yes, she DOES!!!
Logan's ears began to hurt so Granddad held her.
EVERYONE wants to sit in Granddad's lap!!
Our craft project for the day was painting rocks!!
These were formerly ladybugs but the paint had chipped and worn away.
Now they will become cactus after I paint in some details next week. I plan to stick them in a pot in the garden.
The kids enjoyed painting and Kailey especially enjoyed the clean up!
A reality shot! Keeping it real here, folks!
Logan felt so ill all she wanted me to do was hold her. When I HAD to get up for some reason, she would follow me around whimpering.
You feel so helpless when little ones feel so badly.
I knew I couldn't possibly prepare an evening meal with her like this so Louis Dean went out for pizza!
We sat in the front yard so there was NO clean up required!!
He bought two large ones and as the first one disappeared, Trystan was eyeing that second box!
She was concerned when Kailey took that last piece but her eyes lit up when Granddad opened up a whole other pizza!!
Pizza for dinner!
Easy Peasy!
I have to admit - I was totally exhausted last night!
As soon as Amber drove off, I went right in, showered and put on my pajamas!
Louis Dean was sitting out on the driveway with our neighbor having a glass of wine together.
It doesn't happen often but I was even TOO TIRED to drink a glass with them.
I did sit out there and visit a few minutes then I piled myself in bed. It was 9:15!
We slept in and woke up to another chilly morning in Texas. I opened up the kitchen door and Maddie tip toed around the patio. She is such a good little kitty. It was this time last year that Maggie got sick.
I spent a leisurely morning followed by a slow afternoon.
Just came back from getting my hair cut!!
I LOVE the fact that a good haircut can make even a GOOD day a BETTER one!!
Off to Quadville to comfort Amber as SHE comforts her four little ones.
I knew Logan had an ear ache yesterday but was surprised when Amber said she took all four to the doctor this morning and they ALL have ear infection or some condition affecting their ears.
There is strength in numbers and so far the quads are leading! At least I can help even things up a bit!
Grandparents help out in time of need. I was exhausted after my day of running yesterday, but I want to help any way that I can when it is needed. Your quads are growing so fast and it is fun to watch them grow. They each have their own little personalities. My son is back working in your state, he will be there until the job gets finished. Have a great day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteI hope the quads are feeling better. It's hard to see a child sick and even worse when it is all four of them.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself. I know what it is to be that tired. It sounds like me on my late day at work. Make sure you get enough rest.
I'm looking forward to seeing those painted rocks. I used to do that when I was a kid.
I love the photo of you on the sofa..I can relate. My poor Landon has been having ear and sinus issues. We are hoping to get his tonsils and adenoids out this summer. I had a day to myself today and they are quite fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry all (4) are down with infections, when Leah was young, just about every March, April and May she would come down with a bad sinus infection ear infections. She still has trouble this time of year !
ReplyDeleteHope they are all feeling better. We seem to be fighting strep throat again with our oldest grand. She's responded well to the antibiotic. I know what you mean about being tired. We've had one of our two 2 year old grandsons staying with us this week. I'm pooped!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I know you love having the quads over but maybe you should have a week off every now and then just to recharge the batteries! Cheers from Carole's Chatter
ReplyDeleteSo precious! And you are the best at documenting 'the moments'!
ReplyDeleteLinda dear, when I see you and the quads, I so miss our little Tristan. We had such a good time with him, They grow up so fast. I truly love visiting with our adult grandchildren, but there is nothing like a little one crawling up on your lap.
ReplyDeleteYou and Louis Dean are such wonderful, creative, caring grandparents. I would be your grandkid in a wink!
Your new hairdo is cute and doesn't that make everything better.
Sending love and Hugs.
It's never easy when little ones aren't feeling well. Poor kiddos all sick! Poor mama! Hope that Amber is feeling okay after that motorcycle incident.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute with your new do. Nothing like having one's hair done to perk a gal up...guys, too, I've noticed.
My gosh, it's so wonderful to see how very much they love you Linda! You and your hubby are great grandparents :). I had to smile when Harrison was chowing down already after praying. Typical guy. lol
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you-I thought I was remiss. I love hearing about a day with you, LD and the kids. You are my idol when it comes to being a grandma. Everything planned and on schedule, activities and treats. I love both pictures of you, the real thing and the pretty one with your new do!
ReplyDeleteLove to you, dear lady!
Jane x
Oh no, the poor babies. Our son got an ear infection when he was two weeks old! what a sweet picture of Maddie. Did you have another Maddie? Root Beer floats, what a great idea! I just love it when I can watch our grandkids do a "FIRST"!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I just don't know how you do it all - but hooray for you! Hope the ears are all better soon.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Well let me tell you after 8 days at my daughters helping out with her little family I am just exhausted...lol. Goodness the energy it requires. We had a 3 year old and one who is near 2 and then the new baby of course and there was hardly ever a down moment...nap time for the older two maybe but that was about it. Meals were kind of a production, and I made a point to have all the laundry done before I left but I have a feeling it has built back up already. I do wish I lived close enough to give her a break now and then. To just take one occasionally for a while would be a real treat for her I am sure, lol. But they grow soo fast and they will be off to school before you know it. Sure hope the quads are feeling better. My heart always breaks when a little one is not feeling well. They seem to pop back so fast though which makes me wish I could say the same, lol. Be sure and get your rest. Enjoy your week-end!
ReplyDeletewith all your daily activities and 8 little feet no wonder you wrote it on the wrong date... i am sure you needed the nap to..
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am so glad that you are Amber's mother. She needs a sharing ,loving and caring mom like you. Bless all of you. I know what you mean about kids being sick...some times it is so time consuming you can't get much done but tend to them...and times 4 , oh my goodness. Thank goodness for granddad too. He's always in there helping too. You can see how the children are growing up. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteLove those grands...so precious...but a bit scarey Kailey wants to be like granddad LOL!!! Take care xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that the quads are sick. I remember my kids getting alot of ear infections too. If's very common in young kids. Poor Amber. she has to treat ALL four kids now. that can't be easy! I'm still in awe of how she does it. My hat is off to her. She is super woman and YOU are super grandma! I love seeing how you keep the kids so well entertained while they're visiting you. No plopping them down in front of the tv for you! Love your new haircut.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the quads have ear infections. My oldest son was plagued by ear infections as a toddler and young boy, and it was really painful for him. X
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of the kids in LD's lap. Sorry to hear about the ear infection. Tugs at the heart strings when they don't feel good.
ReplyDeleteSo the Wednesday visits are coming to you instead of you going to them. Nice
