It started with Bulletproof Coffee!!!
I saw this on The Pioneer Woman's Facebook page yesterday and determined to try it for myself this morning!
12 oz of strong coffee + 1 teaspoon coconut oil + 1 teaspoon butter!
Blend and serve!!
It made a delicious cup of coffee!!!
I used part strong coffee and part of my gourmet flavored coffee.
Worked for me!
This makes for a special weekend brew!
THIS is what I have been doing today!
Counting my blessings!
I am so grateful for all the wonderful people I have in my life!
Family and FRIENDS!!! Friends that come in all sorts of 'catagories!'
Facebook friends, blogging friends, church friends, neighbors, friends of loved ones, friends I have never actually met in person but we are kindred spirits......I am so grateful for each and every one of you!
That leads me to the second activity of our day!
We were blessed to be included in a very special birthday celebration for a very special birthday girl!
Our beautiful family friend is 90 years old and THE most beautiful lady I have ever met!
Beautiful INSIDE as well as OUT!
It was a wonderful celebration.
Let me tell you, the FOOD was something to write home about!!!
The lady who hosted is a gifted cook!!
Not only was THIS table spread with food fit for a king - the kitchen had a whole ham sliced up and countless other dishes including a half dozen quiches! There was wine and tea and soft drinks and CAKE!!! Oh, MY!!! I barely saved Louis Dean from an overdose of SUGAR when he was offered a SECOND piece of cake!!! Thank GOODNESS my niece deftly swerved that plate away from his waiting hands! He actually THANKED me later!!!
I loved looking through the window to see the cousins setting up their photo shoots!
From the party we went over to my sister's house. Nita and Mike had wine and cheese and crackers and we visited and talked, laughed and had a good time. We even shed a tear or two as we worked on the timeline of our childhood. Every life has its share of sadness but there's always a bit of laughter hidden in there, as well.
Now that Mother is living with Deanie, Nita has reclaimed the master bedroom.
What a beautiful room it is!!!
My photos do NOT do it justice!
So many details!
This is the master bath and Nita made the curtain!
She doesn't sew but she DOES know how to get something done!
She used the iron on hemming tape and it worked like a charm!
The master bath is really her husband's and it has masculine touches in it!
Leah, Nita's daughter and my sweet niece, took this pic of her mother and me.
We had so much fun just being together this afternoon and evening!
We actually stayed far longer than we meant to - but I loved every minute!
We came home to do routine Saturday chores.....changing the sheets on the bed and preparing dinner.
Louis Dean baked potatoes and oven cooked steaks ( with a topping of onions and peppers cooked in butter!) to go with the leftover biscuits from last night.
Every room in the house smells good tonight!
I made my own scented plug in for the guest room using lavender and orange essential oils.
Ointment and perfume does, indeed, rejoice the heart!!!!
A wonderful day! Great photos
ReplyDeleteWhat a special Saturday. I loved following along and hearing about your day. I'm hoping my little friend Elizabeth (98) makes it to 100. What a celebration we will have.
ReplyDeleteI posted a picture of Daniel and Dana a few weeks ago. A little couple that have latch on to me and Don. Neither drive, so today we took them to CoCo's for Lunch for their 35 wedding anniversary.
It was a labor of love, and they so appreciated it.
Sending love and thanks for sharing your life with me.
And I thought I had a lot for people to comment on! What a lovely party...I was trying to look at all of the food on that table to see what all of you serve down there in Texas...as if it's different from here in the Midwest. Either way...it's good, right? What a wonderful lady with a loooong life behind her and many happy time in front!
ReplyDeleteI use Air Wick..how do you make your own?!

What a wonderful day, and party! I love Deanie's beautiful stained glass light! Now I am really tempted to make the coffee! AND I have all the ingredients!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - I certainly will try this coffee mix. Coconut is one of my flavorites both in smell and taste.
ReplyDeleteYour day sounded like wonderful - happy to learn that! You are such a lovely lady!!!
That coffee sounds like rocket fuel Linda, and it certainly powered you through a busy day! I agree family and friends are such a wonderful part of life X
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to be your friend too, Linda. And such a busy day you had. I often wonder how you have the energy to do so much in your day. Now I know... Bulletproof Coffee!
ReplyDeletei am in love with the dresser and the lamp... a beautiful room.. you did have a wonderful Saturday but then all your days are wonderful to me...
ReplyDeleteLinda, What a celebration, as well should be for a 90 year old sweetheart. Glad you had a fun time and saw your sister too. Nita looks like Deanie to me. Pretty girls, as are you . You need to do a tutorial on the air fresheners. Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day! Everything sounds wonderful. I am LOVING your sisters dresser! The whole room really, but particularly that dresser...I agree with Susie and was going to mention that too...HOW do you make that air freshener? Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. Your sister's bedroom is delightful and I really liked the curtains she made. What a wonderful party, too. It is such a blessing to celebrate 90 years and the food looked so delicious. Oh and I'm really hoping you'll share how you made your own air freshener. I'd love to try that. Blessings... :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a coffee drinker but have heard of putting butter in coffee. Looks like it was a wonderful party, so much fun to get together with loved ones. Pretty room adn I love iron on hem tape too.
ReplyDeleteI love coconut oil in coffee, but had not heard of butter in coffee. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWhat a full day you enjoyed!
Hi Linda, Sounds like a great day! Interesting take on coffee. I have some coconut oil, but I bought the refined and should have gotten the virgin; mine tastes like bacon grease - not yummy at all. :(
ReplyDeleteYour 90 year old friend had quite a spread for her birthday - and to be called beautiful inside and out - well, that's MY goal!
Glad you had fun with your sister and her family. Enjoy your week!
Hugs, Beth
mmm I never thought of putting my own oils into the empty glade or frebreeze plug in.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely day. Love that curtain.
