Deanie said this to me more than ONCE today!!!
She dropped Mother off to get her hair done and Louis Dean and I arrived shortly thereafter.
It was a changing of the guard, so to speak, as LD was going to take Mother to lunch when she was finished while Deanie and I hit the open road in our FIRST EVER ROAD TRIP TOGETHER that did not involve a funeral, a wedding or multiple births!!!
We have been looking forward to this since Friday, January 9th!
That's the day we were sitting at her kitchen table when we got this BRILLIANT idea!!!
We have been counting down the days!
For awhile it didn't look like we would get to go due to illnesses and life in general when all of a sudden everything fell into place!!!
We were SO excited!
We loaded my stuff in her vehicle and I went in the salon to visit with Mother for a few minutes.
I left Deanie and Louis Dean to visit together.
They were sitting on the tailgate deep in conversation.
I wonder what he SAID to her?????
Whatever it was - they were laughing!!
They get such a kick out of each other!
We headed down I35 South to Waco - exit #339 - for our first stop!
Starbucks! I pointed in the direction of my step son's ranch and we agreed another trip would be planned for THAT adventure!!! I can't wait for them to meet each other.
Stop #2 - IKEA in Austin!
IKEA!
This was only my second time EVER to be in one of the stores.
I came out with a modest bag full!!
As did Deanie.
She also found some CHOCOLATE!!!
Can you tell she is excited about that?
Stop #3 -
Centerpoint Station in San Marcos.
It was a shop, bakery, cafe and more!
Just perfect!
We ordered delicious burgers, onion rings, fries, and fried PICKLES!
My first time to try THAT! Pretty good!
After lunch we browsed around a bit.
I look unsure as to whether I should sit here or not!
Back in the car for the final leg of our journey.
Traffic was heavy all the way but we arrived in San Antonio right in the 5:00 traffic!
Since we are staying downtown we had no problem because all the people there were now out on the highway going home!
Whee!!!
My sister is so cute and so much fun!
But there's something else very special about her!
She is a 'Germaphobe!'
Like, SERIOUSLY!!!
She saw this movie in 1995 and it freaked her out!!!
So this is what she does!
She is extremely thorough!
So what did I do while SHE cleaned???
I'm on vacation!!!
We have had such a good time!
I brought along a bottle of a wine that Nita put us on to - Moscato D'Asti.
We are safe and sound and tucked into our room for the night.
I think it's just about time to pour that glass of wine......
right after Deanie makes me wash the glasses!
She brought soap!
Deannie and I would be great traveling buddies - gotta love those wipes! Have a wonderful time. I love San Antonia , but haven't been there in a very long while. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGirls roadtrip - what could be more fun. San Antonio is a place I really want to visit. Please promise lots of pictures! And have loads of fun - and don't get into too much trouble lol.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo....Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteWe say "listen Linda" all the time. Even our little granddaughter will say it out of the blue at an appropriate time. My hubby wants to take me to SanAntonio sometime. Have a blast . So glad you feel better. We are to get around 8 inches of snow starting soon. Our pipes froze today. Looks like we are staying home. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou gals have fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be more like your sister, but I'm just not. Now I want a road trip with my sister. Have fun, you two! Can't wait to see all the stuff you get into.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sister bonding trip! Deanie and I could talk for hours! I am a germaphobe too! And you cannot be too careful in flu season...I wipe down the shopping carts. Dr. Oz says the most germy place in hotel rooms is the remote! I carry wipes everywhere!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great time, Linda, and I love that People's Drug Store. I miss those old stores and there aren't many left in my area.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you were able to get away like that. How very wonderful. I just took a trip with my daughter, too, and it was absolutely great! You two are a hoot together. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou gals are having and will continue to have so much fun! Ikea...I want one! (That when I have not yet even visited our new Hobby Lobby.) I always wipe down my grocery cart, though I have never thought to wipe down an entire motel room. =D
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip!! Sister times are special.
ReplyDeleteI have never done what Deanie does but now that you have mentioned it i think it is a great idea... now will you tell us why you went to down town San Antonio? is there something there special? or will you just see the sites as they pop up...
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a sister!
Deanna
Linda!
ReplyDeleteYou look like you are having so much fun!
Oh my gosh I am so hooked on the show "Fixer Upper"!
If it was not so far away from my grand babies, I would move to WACO!
Mr D and I retire in three years. I am planning to hit the Lonestar State after, wine country. I'll bring you a bottle! : )
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers while Mr D was ill. He is home and now suffering from boredom as he cannot lift anything over 10 lbs. He has a post op appointment with his surgeon on Monday. Hopefully he can go back to light duty work in a week or two.
Wishing you and Deanie a wonderful time in San Antonio and safe travels home!

Linda, I am so happy for you and Deanie. Now you know LD would have loved those fried pickles. LOL. I am with Deanie on that germ stuff. I used to love to go to hotels and spend time...now the first thing I do is tear the sheets up and check for bed bugs...no mater where I go. I am afraid for my suitcase to touch anything cloth, or the carpet.. I put our sutcases in the garage upon returning and slowy wash everything that I packed. I hope you girls have a great fun time. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! You had me at Starbucks and moscato. Enjoy!! Jane
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun you have! Makes me smile. I would love to have that kind of relationship with my sister.
ReplyDeleteYAY you got to take a road trip. Pamela and I have another one planned for April. Mom hasn't given me a firm answer if she'll join us this year. I hope so. She has a hard time because we go out to eat and she can't eat after 2 or 3 due to her Barretts disease and I sure don't want her to end up in the hospital plus she gets tired easier. I still hope she comes. Looks like y'all had fun! Where did y'all stay?
