Good News - and BEYOND Exhausted!!!

I left the hospital this morning about 11:30 after having arrived last night at 7:30.
It was a long night. Mother and I got less than three hours of sleep the whole night! By 9:30 this morning her sodium level had climbed to 121 and she was given a breakfast tray. She ate every single bite - except for the link sausage - and drank every drop of the milk and juice. No coffee was offered and she didn't ask for any. Thank goodness! She then turned on her side and went sound asleep!
My sweet niece, Leah, relieved me and within one hour's time I was back home and IN my gown and tucked in bed where I stayed for four glorious hours!!

My sister, Deanie, sent me this photo of Mother taken late this afternoon.
Deanie is now on overnight duty.
For all of you who have 'been there and done that' you know how hard this hospital duty is.
Praise God for the dedicated staff and wonderful doctors who are giving Mother excelllent care.

I took this picture of Mother this morning - before breakfast - when she was talking to my brother, Lonnie. Then Louis Dean called and she talked to him. We were glad she felt like talking.
Her mind is better focused than it has been since all this started. She knew who she was talking to and that was a good sign!

She is out of the woods on the sodium level but now concerns about her heart have sufaced.
At one point last night her heart rate dropped to 32 .....and it has stayed in the 40's quite awhile.
They have called a specialist and will be running more tests.

This is a marathon and we are continuing to run, run, run!

I want to say a HUGE thank you for the joy y'all gave my mother this morning! After breakfast I pulled out my laptop and stood at her bedside reading each and every comment from the last two journal posts - and noting WHERE the person commenting lived! Mother was so impressed!!!
She smiled and smiled and smiled!!!
I think this was the high point of my day with her.
I said, "Mother, you are so popular!!!!"
Her reply?
"Thank you so MUCH!"
She spoke those words clear as a bell and she spoke them to YOU!!
I add MY 'Thank you SO much!" to them!!!

  1. She is so welcome! Isn't it nice that she is on the mend. At least as far as the sodium level goes. Continuing to pray for her heart problems. And for your family as well. Try to get as much rest as you can. It is so great that all of your family is stepping in to help out.

Three hours of sleep? That's about what I get almost every night! Can you say insomniac?

  6. Your mom is beautiful in the first picture, you would never guess she is in the hospital! I know she is glowing from all the good care and love you all have given her. It is good that the doctors have found something NOW, rather than send her home with an unknown problem. Please continue to update us, and I will also continue to pray for your sweet mom. Remember also to take care of yourself so that you can take care of her. I am glad you went straight to bed!

Tell her to be strong, that she has many fans who care about her. Glad you got some needed rest too. My family knows about hospital sitting, it is exhausting .I am glad you have few to help out. Even if they sit for 2-4 hours, you and Deanie can get some rest. Blessings to you and your family. Hug your mother for me. xoxo,Susie

  13. Your mom is in my thoughts and prayers right now. I know how scary it can be to be dealing with health issues in the hospital. Glad that you have a system worked out to keep someone with your mom at all times. I'm sure your mom is comforted knowing someone is there for her. Glad to hear that her sodium level has improved, but worried about her heart condition. Heart stuff can be so serious especially in someone that is already not in good health! Have faith in the doctors that they will get her well and back home soon.

  17. Kia Kaha to your mother from Carole's Chatter here in Auckland New Zealand - that means Stay Strong in Maori and it's a common saying for us when someone is facing a difficult time.

  18. Say hello to your mom from anne from Germany. You and your mom remind me so much of my grandmother I miss her so much. She is 92 now and lives quite far away from me with my aunt who we don't talk to. I haven't seen her in 2 years and I am scared to never see her again. But I will never forget the days I spent at her house as a kid. Grandmas are the best ;).
