Fall Color in Texas and a Day With Mother.....and a Hair Cut Makes EVERYTHING Better!!!

It was 26 degrees when I woke up this morning. Thankfully both Louis Dean and I slept soundly and are feeling much better! I surprised him by getting up early and turning our coffee pots on.
Of course, I went right back to bed!
LOVE waking up to the fragrance of freshly brewed coffee!!

A cup of coffee and a shower and I was on my way out the door!
Louis Dean said, "Are you LEAVING me??"
Yes, I left him to rest at home while I came over here to spend the day with my mother.
This will be her last night here!
I made a couple of stops on the way.....
the first to get my hair cut! A fresh haircut makes EVERYTHING better!!!!
Next was the Goodwill!!! It was just down from where I get my hair cut so it was a given I would stop in. It IS Tuesday, after all!!!
I did find an entire buggy full of treasures from a Santa candy jar to a fall wreath to a Christmas wreath to a set of Christmas glasses and on and on.
It was wonderful!
I am itching to start packing away the fall and bringing out the Christmas things!
This year I am going to store all the sunflower things together and at the opening of the attic so I can bring them down after the patriotic holidays next summer. After all - sunflowers ARE a summer flower!!!

I got over here to the hospital and managed to get THE last parking space in this lot! A car was pulling and I pulled right in!!!

Just look at this row of trees all dressed up in fall colors!!

I am always a tiny bit sad to see fall FALL.......

Soon all the trees will be bare!

Texas did get a little bit of fall color this year!

Deanie and I met up on the 6th floor and visited a few minutes before changing 'shifts!'

She will be back later tonight.
I usually take pics of Mother and me but today I documented my hair cut and my beautiful sister!

Mother is doing very well and is a good patient!

Let's WALK!!!

She is amazing everyone with her enthusiasm!

Mother is determined to regain her strength and GO HOME!!

This is her sweet physical therapist.

It's been a good day. I brought my laptop and was able to do get some things done while I have been up here. I paid bills, balanced my budget, made doctor appointments for Louis Dean, visited with Mother, read my book and played a little Scrabble and Words With Friends.
I have checked on Louis Dean by phone a couple of times. He sounded so chipper!!!
When I called, he answered with THIS:
"Hello!!!!! This is the Big Bopper Speaking!!!!
Will I WHAT??? Do I WHAT??? Oh, Baby, you KNOW what I like!!!!"

I would say he is feeling MUCH  better!!!!

As I close tonight's journal entry I am reminded that I am already in love with this Fall season of my life. As we approach the Winter season this year, I realize that in a few more years of FALL, I, too, will be joining the ranks of those living in the Winter of our lives. I intend to fully embrace that season as well.

I love this quote......

That's very good advice!

  2. Oh...I love your attitude. I think I'm in fall, too, and since I love fall, I will embrace this time in my life!

Love, love, love your haircut. My girl, Katie, just had her baby October 25th and she planned not to do hair again until December. I have to wait until the 6th and I tell you, I'm half brunette/gray and half blonde!! Shhhhh! I also want to get it cut to my shoulders. Just something different and chic! :)

Your mother looks fantastic. I know all of your readers just love her as much as I do. And that LD, he is a riot and I know he keeps you smiling.

Love to you on this 10 degree night in Illinois!

  3. So glad your loves are feeling better.
What leaves we still had are all covered with snow. I went ahead and took the fall things down and started bringing Christmas out. I know its early. I like the way you look at the seasons of life.

  4. What a busy and productive day. I'm in the winter of my life and loving it. I do think I have embraced each one, but I can hardly remember the Spring...Working full time, Pastor's wife, 4 children to raise...I think the only thing I was embracing back then was my pillow every night. HaHa. Every season has it up and down, but lots of blessings.

  6. So happy everyone is improving!! Your mother looks awesome and I do hope she gets to go home soon. Being in the hospital is just not fun. I hope you're *really* better my friend and not just pushing yourself. It does make such a HUGE difference to get a haircut! Glad you enjoyed your Tuesday.
