Maggie loves to come out in the gazebo with us in the mornings while we have our coffee.
THIS morning, however, we forgot to put her back in the house when we started working on our projects.
I had made a 2:00 appointment for her to see the vet. I noticed she wasn't around about noon so I began to look for her in earnest. She had crawled under the side deck and by the time I found her she was covered in fleas! I don't know if she had them already or got them under the deck. She's a white cat so you would think I would have noticed them before! At any rate, by the time we arrived at the animal hospital she was one CLEAN and FLUFFY kitty!!!

She was a very good little patient and the doctor and nurses made over her - as they do all their clients!
Blood work and urinalysis and we will know more tomorrow when the results come back.
She has suffered weight loss (She weighs only 5 pounds!) and hair loss. Her body temperature was lower than normal and she was pale.
She's a white cat but the pale part came from looking at her gums - I think!
She weighed 8 pounds when we got her back in March 2011.
I thought she was about 11 years old but she's only 9. We have just had her 3 1/2 years.
See how healthy she was?
I feel so bad about not noticing sooner how thin she was getting.
She has sure been pampered today!!
While I was taking care of her and doing the routine Monday things housewives do .....
Louis Dean was working on our cabinets for the laundry room.
This is the way they look upright.
But HERE is the way he will hang them!
See the little shelf area? Perfect for 'debris!!!'
He took the ready made cabinets and reinforced them, added a shelf and made a 'bottom' for the 'top!'
One cabinet is done! He will do the other one tomorrow and then I will finish them on Thursday so he can hang them this weekend!! He said they will be so sturdy I can load them up with as much stuff as I want!
Heavy stuff, too!!! As in my Christmas dishes!!
I am thinking about painting them with a wash of green and staining over that and then maybe a coat of wax.
I've never really finished unfinished pieces before.....at least that I can remember!
I'm going to go pet my cat for a little while now before I go to bed!
Hope all is well with your little sweetie!
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Maggie. I hope you find out soon what is wrong with her and are able to treat her. My Snowy has fleas too and we are having the worst time trying to get rid of them. I even bathed her in flea soap the other day but they are still there.
ReplyDeleteLD is a wonder. I would never have thought to use those cabinets. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
I hope (and think) Maggie will be fine. Sometimes we jut miss things. I will send a prayer and some good karma her way!
ReplyDeleteLove the cabinets so far, that man never stops working!! :)

I feel so bad for her! We have only had our cats three years, also. Maybe she has some sort of intestinal parasite...she is so pretty, too! Please let us know the result, sweet little girl.
ReplyDeleteHope Maggie will be well and give you many more years of love, Linda!
ReplyDeleteOh keep us posted on her recovery!!! Hope she'll be fine soon. Poor thing!!
ReplyDeleteMay she soon be feeling ever so much better. She's such a pretty gal.
ReplyDelete(Some edible grade diatomaceous earth sprinkled under the deck and in the yard should cut way back on fleas and any other crawly critters you don't like. We swear by it here.)
Louis Dean is amazing. Believe you me, I shared about thinking outside the box. There are so many things that John could help me with, but he prefers to stay in the box. ☺
Healing Drool for Maggie. I know when our cat loss lots of weight like that she was diabetic. We had to give her two insulin shots a day. She lived for 8 years being diabetic. Also, she might have a low thyroid which is causing the hair loss. I am sure the blood work will come back and it will be a quick fix for her to get her feeling well again. Sherri
ReplyDeletesorry to hear Maggie is sick, weight loss is not a good thing, hope she is ok.. good job on the cabinets. waiting to see how you finish them
ReplyDeletePoor wee Maggie - but it sounds like she is getting the best of care.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching you and LD and those cabinets with interest - great idea!
Poor Maggie-hope she is better soon!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww....she is a little precious one. I hope her health improves shortly and dramatically.
ReplyDeleteLinda, If your cat already had fleas, I would think you and LD would be ate up by now...But I do know that flea infestation can drain your animal. Making them weak. I hope she will be okay. Bugs(roaches, fleas, ants) and mice are my sworn enemies...I just go crazy if I even think I see one. Lord help me if I ever saw a bedbug....I would go screaming into the sunset.LOL. Ld will have those cabinets up and shining in no time. He sure likes to work. :):) Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that your cat is sick! I hope you don't receive bad news about her health. That's so scary! It's always difficult since animals can't tell us what's wrong. Glad to see that you got your cabinets now.
