Technically the cleanest room in the house should probably be the kitchen followed by the bathrooms.
That's always been my rule. Keep those two rooms CLEAN regardless of what the rest of the house looks like! However, the room most likely to be clean is always my bedroom!
We redid this bedroom in May of 2011.
I tried to find pictures of the 'before' but apparently I didn't take any.
Suffice it to say it looked a lot different! Big bulky furniture and wallpaper from the 1980's.
I ditched the dresser but kept the mirrors and refinished them.
The walls are still papered - just much nicer now!
The chest got a new life and went from being a 'brunette' to this chic pale 'blonde' beauty!
The tall chests on either side of the bed along with the bridge was taken to the curb while we kept the mirrors.
I painted everything I could lay my hands on WHITE using the distressing technique.
I had never used WHITE before in my life!! I never even LIKED white before!
Now I LOVE it!!!
That's probably the reason this is my absolutely favorite room!
Louis Dean redid my bathroom BEFORE we did the bedroom.
Talk about a transformation!!!
He made a believer of me! I learned he could do just about ANYTHING!!
This, in turn, convinced ME that perhaps I could make drastic changes TOO!
It's a process that continues.....
Bless his heart!
Louis Dean is still recuperating and the most energetic thing he has done today was watch the Colts and the Chiefs football game!!
We're BOTH still recovering but I am so excited to be feeling more like myself!
The weather has been beautiful and we opened up the French doors to let the house air out a bit.
Hopefully all the germs are gone now.
This morning we read the most beautiful passage from the Old Testament. It has been on my mind all day -
"I have carried you since you were born;
I have taken care of you from your birth.
Even when you are old, I will be the same.
Even when your hair has turned gray,
I will take care of you.
I made you and will take care of you,"
says the Lord.
Isaiah 46: 3-4 NCV
I have lived here in this same house since I was 18 years old.
It has changed a great deal over the years. So have I.
I like to think it has grown old gracefully.
I am trying to do the same.
clean, warm and cozy, love the lamps and mirrors. my bedroom looks just like it did the day we moved in Oct of 1989... and i moved the furniture from out other house that i bought in 1985.... the only thing that changed is the bedspread,
ReplyDeleteOh dear Linda and LD...It sounds like we have all been on the same path. I am sorry to hear that the bug hit you on the day after Christmas. I was hit on the 30th. Mr D caught it yesterday. With the guest room in use, I slept on the couch a night or two to avoid passing the germ and keeping Mr D awake with the horrendous cough.
ReplyDeleteI still have a little more "take down' and "put away" of Christmas decor. We took our real tree down on New Year's Day, when I had a moment of energy. I think that I will likely to muster up the energy and complete that project today.
Your white bedroom is so pretty. It is cozy as well as elegant. I remember when you were working on the room. I also remember when you painted the cabinet white. We have been blog friends since 2011.
Our next project will be our bedroom. I am thinking of painting the walls a warm white to start the transition. We have a brass bed. It will be pretty against a white wall.
We have been in our house since 1979. Mr D and I were 27. The subject of selling it when we retire came up while Jay was home. He suddenly became very sad. It's not this biggest place, but it IS home. I observe a welcome comfort with both kids when they are here.
Speaking of comfort, I love your bible verse today.
It's good to hear that you are feeling better, I hope LD is feeling better soon as well.

He looks pretty cozy! Glad that you are on the mend. It takes a little time to get your energy back. Your home is one of the coziest ever and your bedroom is a romantic's dream.
ReplyDeleteAs you know I love white too. I love all the white bedding you have. I'm so sorry that y'all have been so sick for so long. At least you've been able to stay inside and take care of each other.
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda, I love your bedroom! It is so peaceful and calm. I am liking white! I didn't think I would ever say that but I am. Your room has texture and depth and just feels good! I had that bad bug over a month ago and it was awful, so much coughing, I made it a bit better by taking mucinex and using puffs with lotion. I envy you getting to open your french doors, it is 8 degrees here and the wind chill is -4, and still snowing and temperature is still dropping. We have started a project, so we will be staying inside all day, even the garage is cold! I hope you and Louis Dean continue to feel better!
ReplyDeleteCozy and romantic! I think white and cream colors fit so well into bedrooms. Very sweet and comforting indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is so beautiful. I can't imagine it with anything other than white furniture. I am working on my bedroom this year. It is so messy and I am determined to get everything fixed up.
ReplyDeleteLooks warm cozy and romantic
ReplyDeletebeautiful linda, chic and cozy!!
