It's COLD here in North Texas tonight. I no sooner sat down to write when I jumped up and put on socks and a flannel nightgown AND a robe! Louis Dean is watching college football and would probably love a fire but I am too tired to do one more thing! As soon as we had our morning coffee and reading I headed to the kitchen to clean and decorate. It doesn't help that I decorate differently every year so there's no easy way to do it. As I finish one room my mind is on the next and what to do.
I worked in one end of the kitchen while Louis Dean worked in another. He was baking bread and he does NOT like for me to crowd his territory! I took a break and left him to it!
I went over to Quadville for a few hours so A&M could get out for awhile. The babies were napping and I had a mission to accomplish!
I made four batches of Popcorn Crunch!
Goody Bags of this tasty snack are all bagged up and ready to give tomorrow at the big family dinner Amber and Mike are hosting.
I saved one batch for US!
Talk about perfect timing! The babies woke up just as I was winding up!
They all four woke up in such a good mood!!!
It is so entertaining to watch the quads playing together.
I am telling you - every age just gets sweeter and sweeter!!
That Harrison was a hoot today!!
He wanted to wear my reindeer headband.
Then he purposely set his snack cup upside down and then SAT on it!!
I was laughing so hard! He was right beside me and he stayed perched on that tiny cup for several minutes!!
I had a lot of fun over there this afternoon!!
I got home just as Louis Dean was taking his rolls out of the oven!
The house smelled delicious!! The rolls taste just as good as they look and smell!!
With him out of the kitchen it was back to cleaning and decorating for me!
Normally I put a small tree on this table - but not THIS year!
I love the book 'A Cup of Christmas Tea.'
I wonder if someday I will be 'the old Great Aunt' to someone.
All my keepsakes have memories that make me smile as I decorate.
THIS is where I put the Kitchen Tree.
You know I have a tree in every single room of the house, don't you?
I'm thinking of using unbreakable ornaments since I'm pretty sure it may get bumped a few times.
Next I started in on the other end of the kitchen.
I have several needle works I've done through the years and I like to hang them on the cupboard doors.
This is the one thing I do year after year! They always hang in the very same place.
We use the little metal snack plates quite a bit during the season.
They are the perfect size for a cookie or two or some mixed nuts.
I have two sets of Christmas dishes. These are the every day ones. I've never had them on the counter before but I think that's going to work out nicely.
The basket in the corner holds my decoupaged dessert plates.
I have a set of clear glass plates to do this year and will add to my collection.
Napkins or decorative tissue paper is used on the back side of the glass. I use Modge Podge.
As I clean and decorate room by room - the rest of the house gets trashed!
This room will be NEXT - but probably not until tomorrow evening.
We're going to get up and go to church in the morning and will be at Amber's for a special Thanksgiving dinner in the afternoon.
For now I am calling it a day! The electric blanket is already on and waiting for me.
This morning it was 59 degrees in the house so I turned on the central heat - something I seldom ever do!
When I got home this afternoon Louis Dean had cranked it up to 70 degrees!!!
Wonder if he's noticed yet that I turned it OFF?
Mmmmm... I can smell the rolls! Linda, you take such care with each decoration, so much love in each step. Even from a distance, you can feel the warmth of your heart and Christmas Spirit. Have a great dinner tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having a tree in each room. And your Christmas decoupage plates are great! Have a good time at the dinner tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI love all your decorations! Two questions, where did you get those treat bags for Thanksgiving and can you type the recipe for the popcorn out I can't read the recipe card. You amaze me with all your energy. Louis dean and this rolls oh my so professional!
ReplyDeleteHey, Mary! I got the bags at Hobby Lobby last year on clearance. The Popcorn Crunch is easy peasy.
DeletePop some corn and put it in a large foil roasting pan or what have you. Melt 1 stick of butter in a heavy pan, add 1 cup of sugar and 2 Tablespoons of white corn syrup and 2 Tablespoons of water. Cook until think and the mixture pulls away from the pan. Pour over the popcorn and toss it around with a couple of wooden spoons to coat it all. Spread on waxed paper to cool and then stored in tins or bags. Makes great little snack gifts!
Linda -

ReplyDeletegirl you get so much done in a day....those babies get cuter every day...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words Linda, they are appreciated. Your blog always is a pick me up. You inspired me to decorate the little tree in our bedroom yesterday. What I wouldn't give for some of your hubby's home made buns! They look divine. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely thanksgiving, LInda!
ReplyDeleteLinda, how fun to follow you around your house enjoying the decorations as you do the work, and we just enjoy. I noticed the teacups in your wreath. One year (since I have a huge collection of tea things) did a tea cup Christmas Tree, tying enough of my teacups with pretty ribbon to fill the tree. It was a lot of work but worth it. I have sever tea books and the Christmas Tea is one I love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a show THE weather is putting on right across the country. It's freezing here and the wind is fierce.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I have spent so much time in your cozy kitchen. I have so enjoyed seeing all the touches of Christmas you are adding. It looks so pretty that I had to pin a photo on my Christmas board so that I can see it again and again.
Hope that you've had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Amber's house! Stay warm now!
Sounds like your "fun quotient" is about full up. :) good for you. It is chilly here, too; and we have a fire in the fireplace. We don't turn on the central heat very often either. But electric blankets...oh, yeah! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how that works. You clean one room and another gets messy. I'm drooling over those rolls. And I can just image the smell of fresh baked rolls as you walked into the house. Yummmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI love everything you post,, you're are like my neighbor next door.. :) HAPPY HOLIDAYS :)
