A Man in the Kitchen!

We woke up to RAIN here in the DFW area!
A good slow soaking rain which has made our yard look like it did in the spring!

While I was in California last week our microwave and then our oven went out! We have been expecting it for quite awhile. Over 2 years ago one of the front burners kind of blew up - right in the middle of a dinner party! I was just thinking - that stove is 30 years old! Good grief! It's about TIME we got a new one!!

Louis Dean saw an ad for appliances at Best Buy. He LOVES Best Buy and their Geek Squad. He likes the sales they have where you get free financing for such and such a time. So that's where we met up this afternoon after I got the second round of injections in my left knee. I am loving having insurance!

Louis Dean spied what he wanted right off! We had the nicest salesman, too. He is a retired attorney and he and Louis Dean swapped stories like they were old friends! We bought a stove with a double oven AND a matching microwave which Louis Dean will hang on the wall above the stove.
That will leave the microwave cabinet that was built just for it available for extra storage space.
We'll have to figure out how to finish it out on the inside and fashion a door for it somehow.
The stove will be delivered Thursday so LD got started this afternoon putting down the new flooring.

We have had the boxes of planks stored in his music room for nearly 2 months now!

I kept trying to take pictures and was getting in his way.
He finally said, "Hey, Blondie! Don't you have some computer-ing to do??"

I had already set out art getting a jump start on tomorrow. I based in the last Santa. This year I am painting two each of two different Santas. I'll keep a set and then have another set for our family Chinese Christmas Tree. The turpentine smell helps with the bad odor of whatever died in the attic. I hate it when that happens!
A cold front and more rain is expected for tomorrow so we have kept the attic fan on all day to chase the smell away! It is getting less noticeable which is good since I'm having art class tomorrow.

I can hear Louis Dean in the kitchen talking to himself.
Perhaps I better go help him.
He does good work but he also requires a LOT of supervision!!
Whether he wants it or not!

  1. Those are the kind of deals I like best, too. Have bought most of my appliances on those kinds of deals. Oh...putting down a floor just sounds so painful. I don't think I could do it and I don't know that John could either. We certainly don't want you down there. Ouchie. LD's a better man than any of us are that's for sure! = D

  5. Love the look of your new appliances. Best Buy is a great store, isn't it?
Your art, is it oils? I want to do a watercolor Christmas card this year...I haven't done that for a while.

  8. It is always fun to get new appliances! We got all new ones about 2 years ago. They were in the home when we got married and figure the oven was over 40 years old, yeah it was time! I also got a double oven and I love it!! So fun for you especially before all the holiday baking! :)

  9. What a snazy new stove you have there. Have you tried putting some charcoal up in the attic to help draw the smell out. I know it works for musty smells and just about anything bad smelling. Might help out some. Have a great day! Sherri

  10. Linda, I know what you mean about that supervision thing...Teddy Bear is one hard working crafty guy...but we draw out and discuss any plans. Blondie...did you get that computering done? LOL. My oven is on the blink too. We have noticed a new gas line coming down our road....So I am holding off on the stove, cause if I can have natural gas...this L.P. stove is being tossed. I hate L.P. Blessings to you and your Honey. xoxo,Susie

  14. Hi Linda, L.D. looks looks so happy I bet it is because you are back in the house! I love the double ovens! There are so many times I have played tag with items cooking at different temperatures. Happy for you! The floor is very pretty, so L.D. can bake and put in floors too! The Santa is amazing, thank you for taking us along on its progress. I am somewhat envious of your talents! I am still trying to find mine! LOL! Best wishes at the procedure you are having, you will be in my prayers.

  15. Nice combo there. Mom's oven went out about 4 years ago. Joe finally had time to go buy one. Mom may have forgotten how to bake. LOL
