This has been a busy day!! Most of our days ARE! I got a phone call this morning at 8:30 from the guy we met at the movies yesterday. They arrived within an hour to give us an estimate and were hard at work by 10:00!
Six men worked HARD for six hours!
They did an excellent job!
I loved knowing so much work was getting done while I was taking all the red, white and blue down.
It is all packed away and put up and the sunflowers are now displayed.
I used to do a beach theme for mid July through August but I have given most of my shells away.
I do love sunflowers!
All of these flowers were in the hall - which I am NEARLY ready to redo!
I have other sunflowers to add once I get up in the attic. That won't be soon since the next 7 days are going to be upper 90's to 100+!
It's always nice to change out the decorations.
Louis Dean was out watering his roses this evening.
Thinning the trees out will allow him to grow roses around his new pond and he is REAL happy about THAT!
We are expecting a special guest! Louis Dean's grandson will be arriving to spend a few days with us.
LD asked me to make the guest room a little more 'gender friendly.'
I changed the lace cover and curtains for brocade ones.
Changed out the dresser scarves (which were white lace) to something NOT lacy!
We are SO looking forward to his Grandson coming to visit!
He's the same age as Benjamin I think. About 25 years old.
I shall ask him what his favorite meals are and fix them!
It was wine time about 8:30 and still daylight!!
I opted for a rum and Diet Coke instead.
Our majestic pecan tree! Doesn't it look good?
Welcome to our front porch!!!
We are ready to close out this day. We woke up early when Lance, the tree guy, phoned.
Normally we go to bed late - as in one or two in the morning! AND we get up late - as in nine or ten.
We just may be getting sleepy a bit earlier tonight!
The light change now the tree is gone is going to make a big difference inside and out. Have a great day tomorrow.

I had you pegged as someone that goes to sleep early every night! I didn't know you were a night owl like me. I wish I could send you some rain since you need it. It has been so rainy here that we don't need anymore for a while. The sun did come out today and the clouds parted. It was a wonderful surprise, but it didn't last. Love your sunflower decorations. It's kind of surprising that people think of them as Fall flowers when I think of them more as summer flowers. Don't they usually grow this time of year? Hope you have a wonderful time with LD's grandson visiting.
ReplyDeleteI love the sunflowers, Linda. That photo right beneath your sunflower wreath is stunning! I love the light and ambiance!
ReplyDeleteSunflowers are gorgeous and you have the right idea. Enjoy your guest. That is sweet of you to change the decor according to whether it's a guy or girl.
ReplyDeleteso who wanted the guest room a little more gender friendly...that made me smile!!..
ReplyDeletei love sunflowers to and would love to have that pecan tree, daddy had 3 like that in our old homestead. the state took it and took down the trees and bulldozed the house. my head is almost to big to type from all your compliments on my post last night. thanks for those.
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking so good around your place.
ReplyDeleteLove getting our trees trimmed...and your pecan is a beaut...ours isn't so pretty this year as it froze 3 times last winter. It's beginning to look a little better now, tho.
The bedroom looks great...Lance will love it...and ya'll will enjoy him so much.
Ahhh, rum and coke...a favorite of mine several years ago. However, when I converted over to wine, that is what I drink now.
Have a good day and DON'T go up in that hot attic...you may never come down !! :)
Gracious, you never have a do-nothing-day! Nor do anyone around you. :-))))
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit. I'm sure your guest will!!!
And -chuckle- I love how you make the guest room, more male gender friendly. -gigggles- Not easy, in your house my Dear. But you made a valiant effort. -more giggggles-
Your tree looks great. I'm sure you will find it lighter not only in the yard, but in the house. I wish I had a tree. Well, I have a little maple about 6 feet high in the corner of the yard which I am trying to get to grow.
ReplyDeleteI decorate with sunflowers in the fall. But I do have to change out the front of my house. Thanks for reminding me.
I like your guest room. I hope you have a lot of fun with Lance.
Linda, Don't you love when people you hire do their jobs and clean up after themselves? I sure do. You and LD never have a dull moment. Take care of each other. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful job done! It'll be a gift that keeps on giving. Nothing like some light! I prefer a bit of openness to a jungle. You've made the guest room very welcoming. I'm sure LD's grandson will enjoy his visit.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how big they are getting - and the potatoes how did you cut them anyway?
ReplyDeleteHow funny making the room gender friendly but I understand what LD wanted. You did good my dear like there was ever a question.
ReplyDeleteMy mother said to tell you 'Hi' when she and I were together briefly Saturday.
