Today was a lovely, SLOW, cool, delicious rainy day! The high temp was recorded at 12:01 am.
It warmed up some, then the rain came in and it cooled off. The rain stayed all afternoon. When it left it warmed up a little bit but has been oh, so very pleasant!!!
Since we really don't melt when we get wet we did get out in the back yard for a while.
It was TOO wet to do much but Louis Dean managed to haul in a wheelbarrow of dirt or two from the front.
He has dug up the area by the side of the driveway. He plans to put gravel there since nothing grows but weeds. Then the camper can be parked all the way back to the stone fence and one set of tires will be on the gravel. All in good time. He gets a lot done because no one has told him a 76 year old man is not supposed to be doing all this!!
This is how the gazebo looked this morning before I started sprucing it up.
And the 'After!'
I grilled steaks while I was out there working.
Louis Dean was taking a nap. He was one happy man waking up to these!
I kept all my tools over in the corner since I'll be back out there tomorrow evening.
This is the next area that needs a haircut.
There is a very nice two tiered stone planter under all that overgrowth!
Beyond and to the right is where the spa used to be.
We still need to do something with that space.
Maybe get some sand for a kids' sand box!
I used some pillowcases to cover the faded pillow backs on the chairs.
This one is just waiting for YOU to come visit!
Can you see the green chair just inside the French doors?
That's where I'm sitting to write now that I have Internet and can use my desk top!!
The desk is to the right and my sewing machine is to the left.
I worked on Logan's quilt today. Sewed right sides together with the batting sandwiched in and stitched it like a pillow case. I am trying to figure out how to 'close' the top. I think I have a good idea forming.
We sat outside this evening and a neighbor joined us for a little visit. Now that we're in I
think we'll watch one of our recorded programs (I LOVE being able to record again!!) and go to bed early.
Tomorrow is Friday and I will be leaving early (for me!) to go to Fort Worth and see my mother and sister!
It's MOTHER'S DAY weekend!!!!!
I love your cosy 'at home' posts, Linda.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I have ribs cooking, or the sight of those steaks might have put me over the edge!
I love your gazebo. I wish I had the space to set one up. Sounds as if you had one nice day.
ReplyDeleteThe gazebo looks really cozy, Linda!
ReplyDeleteit was a nice rain today....we sure need it...kinda messing with my camping plans though...
ReplyDeleteWe actually got a break in the rain today but it's coming back this weekend. Seems it's rained all Spring so far and it's not making me happy. I don't mind a day or two of it but enough is enough!
ReplyDeleteLouis Dean is a worker. He reminds me so much of my grandpa.
Your Gazebo looks awesome! You have such an eye for decorating. Keep that chair ready for me. I keep telling Hubby we are coming to visit :)
We are due to get rain tonight and tomorrow...we were supposed to get it today but somehow we got sunshine in Montreal. I love the rain, especially after so many days of sun!
ReplyDeleteAll your pics are lovely. How fun to have a gazebo and it is charming. What kind of grill is that? Looks like something we could use. The activities around your place always fascinate me. You and LD were made for each other.
ReplyDeleteI loved the rain yesterday, too. Watched it from the kitchen as I baked 5 doz muffins.
When I saw the picture of the little birds on the laugh rock...I thought that's Linda and LD, those two birds. Both of you are workers. I like the gazebo. Enjoy your weekend. Happy mother's day to you and your mommy too. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful day with the rain... Good for LD doing all that work!! Age is just a number...Love your Gazebo..... Have a great Mother's Day dear Linda... you are a great one!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely rainy day wasn't it! Hope we have more of these. Have a Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy, busy... but a wonderful kind of busy!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done with your gazebo, the chair with the red colors looks fantastic... brilliant idea!
I'm curious what type of a cooker that is you're grilling the steaks on, that looks like it would be the perfect size for one or two people! I might even cook a bit more for myself with one of these... might being the key word! lol
Have a wonderful week Linda!
LD needs to take it easy. That man is like David and don't know the word slow down.
ReplyDeleteAnd you too. Things look great
