The world seems to be spinning out of control!
The violence in Boston and now the tragedy in West, Texas.
I've continued to pray and watch a bit of news.....
but today - just for today - I have tried to simply STOP the world and get off!
Louis Dean has been out of town for a couple of days so it was very quiet around here.
I slept late this morning. I mean REALLY late as in nearly 11:00!
I didn't run around and I didn't do a million projects.
I made coffee and took it back to bed with me.
My current book is Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas and I enjoyed some extra reading time.
Only routine housework was accomplished today.
Louis Dean and Lucy arrived home this afternoon breaking the silence around here but adding the spark of life we all need. He had a successful trip closing up his property with the help of his grandson.
We have a contract on the house so hopefully this will be a done deal soon!
Louis Dean liked the newly painted coffee cart!
He was in hopes a guitar case he had ordered would have arrived while he was gone.
Nope!
I said I hoped we got the tickets to see Val Kilmer in Citizen Twain soon!
We will be going Sunday!
Louis Dean said, "We DID! We DID get them!! I hope you didn't throw them away!"
Sure enough - I HAD!
They arrived in an AT&T envelope and he had left them inside and laying on the coffee table.
I thought it was junk mail!
Thankfully, the trash was still outside so I sifted through it until I found them!
I have enjoyed this gentler and quieter day.
Continuing in this work free manner - I am going to play Bunko tonight with my friend and neighbor, Stephanie! I am an alternate so when someone can't play then I CAN!
The world will still be spinning in the morning and I plan to hop back on!
It was great weather today for taking a break and having a little fun with Bunko girls. I'm sure you'll be back at it all tomorrow. :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while, we need "days off" from the world! It will all still be there tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMy morning facebook comment was..."America needs a "slow" news day." I will admit, you have been in my prayers since last night because you had mentioned driving to West, Texas in one of your posts.
ReplyDeleteKilmer doing Twain? It will be amazing!
~withLove.
It's good to have a slow down day, quite time for reflection!! We are both so lucky to have such awesome lives to return too!!
ReplyDeleteI love the red cart! Looks very nice:)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful...your red cart.
ReplyDeleteIt's reassuring to know that important stuff lands in the trash at other people's places as well! :)
So glad you found those tickets. Hope you have an awesome time!
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a slow day. I know I do. Hope you had fun at bunko.
As one who once tossed a paycheck into the woodstove thinking it was junk mail, I'm very glad that your tickets were in the trash. Always something to be happy about and another thing, I'm happy that you had a day to decompress. That is a wonderful gift. Yay for the closing almost coming to fruition. That will be the weight of the world from your shoulders, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I think I may take a break from the usual activities too :) It's a rainy day here, so a good book and less news might be the key.
ReplyDeleteYour coffee cart looks great!
Linda, great idea to chill for a while. Perhaps a chorus of "Let's look on the bright side of life" is in order - shall we sing it together?
ReplyDeleteHad a giggle about you throwing out the tickets - I managed to rip up and throw out a voucher my sister had sent me for a wine tour - thought it was just advertising! Oooops - luckily I rescued it and taped it back together but haven't used it yet. Cheers
Oh man that would have been terrible if the trash had been picked up. Luck was with you. ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove the little red cabinet. It really pops.
