Seems like Yesterday.......

......when Amber was a newborn. I was an 'older mom' at 36 years of age.
Older still - 39 - when Benjamin was born.
I can see Amber's little chin in all of her quadruplets.
The big difference is Amber was full term and had some fat on her.
Trystan, Kailey, Harrison and Logan will be filling out very soon.

Here is Amber's latest update via Facebook:

Babies are still doing good, they are having to change around Harrison's ventilator and oxygen settings more frequently since he got a bit riled up from moving into his sisters' pod today. He's been up and down on the morphine as well as they try to keep him comfortable with the chest tube. All your prayers are SO appreciated! Logan had her IV taken out, that little runt had no oxygen support 12 hours after being born and now she's on full feeds! Trystan follows tomorrow and has surpassed her sisters, taking in 19cc of milk every feeding. Kailey will be next in line! We got a room for the night down the hall at the Ronald McDonald house so I'm excited to get to nap in between baby visits. :)

Lucy and I drove home yesterday. As much as I hated to leave Amber and the babies - I was thrilled to be HOME! I started crying as I drove down my street. I LOVE my home and didn't even realize how MUCH I missed it.

I texted close friends and family to let them know I arrived safely and IMMEDIATELY my youngest son called from California. He has been following everything on Facebook and our blogs. I can't TELL you how happy I was to hear his voice!
I was like a mother duck wanted to get all my duckings in a row!
He will be flying out this fall to visit all his new nieces and nephew. I told him we will have a bunk ready for him in the camper!

As soon as I came in I turned on my classical music radio station - WRR 101.1 FM!
Opened the French doors up and flipped on the attic fan......lit a few candles and turned on several of my tiny lights. Ahhhhh.......home sweet home.

Funny how our homes become who we are.
Mine is warm and cozy - even in the HOT Texas summers -
soft and romantic - fragrant and on the small size. No wide open spaces.
Every nook and cranny is filled with SOMETHING!!
It will be fun to fix our camper up to reflect our tastes and be comfy as well as functional.

I slept so well last night!! Window A/C on, sound machine and ceiling fan running. I didn't wake up til 11:00 this morning!

This is what finally woke me up!
I could smell breakfast through the closed door!
LD makes the best 'from scratch' pancakes!

Last night we ground some fresh Carmel coffee beans and I tell you WHAT!!
That was one good cup of coffee!! Actually I had TWO!!!

I was so blessed all the time I was down in Houston. I have a pretty good case of arthritis - who doesn't at my age? - but with all the miles I hiked through the hospital corridors I was fairly pain free. Then last night I turned my knee wrong!

Love those knee braces......and Celebrex!

Louis Dean has been working on the camper today. He has his work cut out for him.

Literally!!!

A 4 foot section of the floor - UNDER the refridgereator - which is built in! - needs replacing as well as this one side wall on pull out room.

I have never seen anything Louis Dean couldn't do!
He says it is thanks to his father in law, Jerl Doggett!
He taught him how to think jobs through and figure out how to do them.
There's ALWAYS a way!
He's got this!
We'll better appreciate the 'after' pictures if we have the 'before' ones for comparison.

Our work day is done.
It's time to pour the wine and head out to the gazebo!
It's been a GOOD day at home.

  1. I pray Harrison settles down. The picture of you with your daughter is priceless. How many children do you have? When - I guess when the babies get home - you will go put your RV there. Good luck getting it all done.
Pancakes were so sweet. Hope your knee is better. sandie

  2. I love that picture of you with Amber as a baby! Gosh she looks huge compared to the quad babies, doesn't she? I know they will catch up. Glad to hear that you're finally home and getting some much needed rest and time for yourself. That is so important. You're so lucky to have such a helpful husband too. I believe he is a keeper!

  3. Linda,
I am so glad that you and LD are home. (I also prayed that everything would be safe and sound at your place!)

Mr D and I arrived home from our week with Jay in Boise.

Now it's time to tackle all of the summer chores around here.

So blessed to have you as a blog friend!

  9. So glad you got home safely. There really is no place like home. I know you will make that camper into a home away from home this summer. So sorry about your knee. I have a bad knee and know how painful it can be. Love the picture of you and Amber. So sweet. Tell LD to keep making breakfast and try to stay off that bum leg.

  10. You were sleep deprived! So glad that you are home as well knowing that you need to regroup and recoup, too. All the best on the projects. If anyone can get it done, your hubby can with a little help from you. Take care of that knee!
