Louis Dean bought a couple of these Jack Daniel's half barrel planters from Home Depot for his tomatoes and peppers.
He can still haul a pretty good load!
LD gave up on growing any vegetables in the ground - other than some cucumber vines that are hidden behind his parked truck. We just don't get enough sun in the back yard but the side deck does!
We finally planted some bushes along our back fence.
This area was filled with building debris for years! Slowly but surely we are getting our property in order! Louis Dean only has one quarter of the back yard currently occupied by 'Sanford and Son!'
I usually only show the pretty places around here!
But if you go down the path to the end of the yard - well, it only gets worse when you turn that corner! And I am NOT showing that!
But I do have to tell you.......
Louis Dean is getting neater all the time!
You have made great progress in the yard! The front yard with the drain, the house looking good - your room completed and now BIG progress in the backyard. Way to go! My tomato plants and zuchini are growing well in the pots I put them in. I keep saying I am going to move them to the front yard and Sabrina get's that worried look on her face.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's busy as usual around the Chapman house hold. One good thing is it's never boring!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Thanks for stopping by and leaving me kind thoughts. I live in northern Calif. The whiskey barrels are great! Your garden is shaping up. There is always soerthing to work on around the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for using the whiskey barrels...I have to have a look at Home Depot. My veggie garden here was ravaged by some sort of weed and I can't kill it. Miss those home grown veggies!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the debris...I wish my hubs were as nit picky as me! lol! At least you've taught LD a few things!
Are you surviving the heat?
XO,
Jane
Linda
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of barrels..will have to check it out, we gave up on planting tomatoes as the squirels were enjoying them more then we were during the summer months.
Just caught up with yesterday's post Harrison is so cute, and the girls are too:) Enjoy your visit and give them lots of "Grandma" Love!!
Little by little, Linda. ☺
ReplyDeleteThose are great planters for the deck. Hope that you get lots of peppers and tomatoes.
Great idea using whiskey barrels for the vegetables. Yards take constant work, don't they?!
ReplyDeleteit takes time, to mold them into the guy they are suppose to be!!
ReplyDeleteit has taken 34 years for me to get mine right!!
it's a never ending battle, then it snows!!
I love that last photo with LD...awesome...
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is you all have your hands full - working at the house and the RV and the babies. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteYour plants ought to do well in that whiskey barrel! Looks like you're getting alot done around the yard. At least LD has his stuff stored out of sight! My husband has been known to clutter the garage and driveway before. That won't do! I've been known to go out there and start purging! ha!
ReplyDeleteYes, we all have areas like that!
ReplyDeleteWhisky barrels are great as planters - I had one outside my front door that I always put spring pansies in. They grew hugely tall and had masses of flowers. Wonder why?! Lots of the distilleries here sell their barrels on once they no longer need them.
Excellent idea! Plant in Jack Daniels barrels! Put 'em where the sun is. And around here, put 'em where the Binder Vine ISN'T. ,-)
ReplyDeleteHe keeps getting neater. What more could one ask for, than progress? :-)))))))))

Oooops, forgot!
ReplyDeleteAnything connected with Jack Daniels, sounds good to me! Remember, I even saved a bottle, to put flowers in. :-)))))

We want to get some barrels to put in the flower beds. Or at least my landscaper wanted to at one time. You know him he's always changing something.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up, this weekend is good in favor of me, since this point in time i am reading this fantastic educational piece of writing here at my home.
