Beach! Babies!!

That was our Saturday but not in that order!
We saw the BABIES first - don't you know??

This is the sight Summer and I saw as we walked in to the NICU!

Trystan is already fist boxing with her dad!!
Have  I mentioned what a spectacular FATHER Mike is??
Trystan now weighs 3 lbs 6 oz! Her weight at birth was 2 lb 10 oz.

As soon as we set our bags down and sanitized our hands the scene looked like THIS!
Amber has to remind me only my HANDS are sanitized! NOT my LIPS! No KISSING! I told her I would gladly smear some of that stuff on my mouth!!

We had a ball!! I held Logan - the littel peanut of the quad squad!

She is a tiny little thing! 3lb 4oz now. At birth she was 2 lb 6 oz!
As small as she is she can fill a diaper completely FULL!!!
She began to poop as soon as I sat down with her. You must hold the babies for an hour so the aroma in that part of the NICU began to build!
As a matter of fact - all FOUR Bell quads pooped as all FOUR were being held!
We all had to wait the hour before changing them!
Amber changed Kailey and I changed Logan.
Funny, Summer and Mike let the nurses change Harrison and Trystan!
What's up with THAT??

Big Boy Harrison is in a CRIB now!!
He weighs 4 lbs 1 oz now. At birth he was 3lbs 6 oz.
They are ALL growing.

Kailey is 3 lbs 9 oz! Birth weight was 2 lbs 8 oz.

You can read Amber's lastest blog post!

After our 'Baby Time' Amber and Mike headed home to do the million and one things they need to do to have the house ready to welcome FOUR little preemie babies!

Summer and I headed SOUTH to the BEACH, Baby!!

Tradition held and our FIRST stop was Benno's on the Beach!
Shrimp Pasta Salad - as always!

I ate it ALL!!!

Next stop - another tradition - GOODWILL!!
I found a cart FULL of good things!

An Academy Sporting Good Store was close so I bought a couple of new lawn chairs and we proceeded to THE BEACH!

It was a Vacation Atmosphere in Galveston!
LOTS and lots of people!!

These guys were just parked on Seawall Blvd having a grand old time.
While they were visiting and on their cell phones.......

Summer and I were looking at this!

I know! It is the Gulf of Mexico and not blue green water but it's all Texas HAS!
Summer and I both love the sights and sounds and SMELLS of the beach!

Love the seagulls......

We sat on the beach, watched the water, walked on the beach......
we could feel the tension drain from our bodies!

This is a great place for people watching.
You see the young, the families....and the elderly!
I love watching them all.

My daughter is amazing. She NEVER, ever, EVER leaves a place - ANY place! - without leaving it a little bit better than she found it!!
That means picking up trash on the beach, wiping up tables at the Ronald McDonald House, replacing hangers at Goodwill......you name a place and she leaves it BETTER!! That's just the kind of person she is!

For a light dinner we went to the Mosquito Cafe - very "California' in food and atmosphere! We LOVED it!!

Waldorf salad, chicken salad, roasted brie with toasted walnuts and the best bread!
Summer had a delightful glass of Cupcake Moscato while I had a really GOOD cup of coffee!! WITH half and half! Great restaurant with a wonderful staff!! I know this will now be a NEW tradition to our Galveston routine!

We ended our day at Murdochs - as usual! - spending the last hour before they closed sitting in the big white rockers looking out at the water.

And you can see Pleasure Pier all lit up!

We gave the shell shop one last walk around just before we left.
Summer said, "Don't LOOK at this shirt! Just hold it up so I can take a picture!"

So funny!! Only ONE person calls me 'Godess!'
I'm good with GRANDMA from the others!!

I will close this post with a pic from Summer's daughter.
To come see the quads Summer had to give up time with Raynie!
She is adorable!! She gave Sabrina her phone last night and let her know Raynie wanted to call 'Mummers' and tell her Nite Nite!!

Ah, the blessings of having CHILDREN in our life!!

PS.....I reserve the right to be mistaken when adding names to the pictures.
There ARE four of them and they DO look a bit similar!
Practice will make perfect!

  1. Nothing makes the world any better than babies! I can't imagine my life without kids in it. Looks like another awesome visit to the Nicu for you. Those quads sure are growing quickly. Tell Mike to avoid all those diapers he can now because when he gets home I bet Amber won't let him away with that.

LOVE that you all got some beach time and shopping time. Also totally love that Summer always leaves a place better than she found it. If only we could all be like that!!!!

    Happy Sunday Mrs. Linda!

  2. They are growing and gaining their little baby sweetness...little bundles of pudginess. What fun for you all! Bet that holding the babies gave you all a nice time feeling the blood pressure drop...oh...there were the full diapers. Oh dear! Looks as if you had a wonderful, relaxing time.

I never kiss babies. Not even my Grands. I never take babies hands. I am very, very *pernickery*, and ... Well... I hope Mothers appreciate it.

I want to scream when I see people take their tiny hands... And smooch them.... G-E-R-M-S...

Are there any other such Grandmothers, out there??????????? Or am I the only one?????????

  10. Thanks for commenting on my beef stroganoff post. It is mid winter here in NZ (not all that cold) - so some hearty dishes are called for! I hope you are enjoying your visits to see the quads - they are soooo cute.
