Summertime.....and the living is easy!

Yesterday was the first day in a long string of days where it was NOT 100 degrees....or more!
I spent a few hours outside under the pecan tree reading the last chapters of a good book.

Did a little writing in my journal. I am impressed with the lush green grass in our front yard!

Louis Dean has been hand watering it (we have NO sprinkler systems!) and mowing it higher than usual!
Think this is helping. It is normally brown and crunchy this time of year!

Lucy certainly enjoyed it!

How did Louis Dean spend this lovely day?
Sorting out a ball of some kind of nylon line!

He said it was no different from me working a jigsaw puzzle.
All I can say is it kept him occupied for HOURS!!
That was a good thing since he needed to rest and not do too much.
He is on blood thinners and has several 'wounds' that are bandaged and need to heal up!
All he has to do is SCRATCH a place and he bleeds!
I have to keep my eye on him all the time!

As the day ended I strung up a few more strands of lights around the side water pond.
We see this from the kitchen and it looks so romantic at night.
Once the temps are more moderate I will put out some pretty flowers and we will sit out there more.

But for now we close out our evenings looking at the moon through the big pecan tree
from our chairs on the driveway.

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time."
- John Lubbock

  1. I am in complete agreement with the author of that quote! I love the idea of looking out at that lovely pond with the fairy lights all around.

  3. Oh wow, a man who loves to do all kinds of work... and is on blood thinners. I understand, since I'm on them.

Though husband is not, I also understand how they (husband who love to doooooooo things) "nick" themselves, now and then. -sighhhhh-

Oh I love the new faerie lights!!!

And your evening view, from your driveway. But please, how do you manage to not get eaten alive by mosquitoes and etc... At night, out side? Do you have fans out front there too? Like on your gazebo?

I've wanted to ask this before, and remembered to do it, this time. :-)

  5. Your yard is lush and green! Enjoyed your post.Maybe you should put a ad in the paper stating your husband can untangle any thing. How many jewelry
boxes with tangled mangled messes of necklaces would he untangle. Really that takes patience!

  6. I love the look of the summer quilt on the grass and your journal and books. Very restful to the eye. My goodness, that looks like a nasty chore your hubby is doing. I'd pitch the entire thing into the garbage. He sure is tenacious.
