I usually run a little LATE with most things! All the good intentions in the world but I still wind up accomplishing things later than I meant to! This quilt is for a baby boy! Can you guess his name?
I used 85 six inch squares of various denims (5 of those squares were for his name which I cut out and appliqued on.)
The back lining is a shirt denim type of fabric sheet.
All my denim and lining are recycled.
I love using 'old' things to make 'new' ones!
I sewed the strips together, appliqued the name on, put a standard crib size batting and sandwiched it all together. Stitched around the sides leaving an opening for turning. Trim the seams and clip the corners.
Turn inside out and whip stitch the opening closed.
I used my sewing machine to tack the quilt together at regular intervals.
And BINGO!! It is DONE!
I washed and dried it and am now looking for a box to pack it in so I can mail it off!
The mother is the daughter of one of my oldest and dearest friends.
I have known her daughter ALL HER LIFE!!
Amazing to see these 'Kids' all grown up and married and with children of their own.
Now WE are the GRAND mothers!
One down......more to go!
Last year it took me so long to get around to making one quilt it ended up being a gift for the child's one year birthday! I intend to hop right on this next one though!
It is for the grand baby of a dearly loved former neighbor!
She used to live on the corner and we all had SO MUCH FUN back in the day!
I watched HER daughter grow up and now SHE has a daughter of her own.
Funny how time is just flying by!
I am so grateful for Facebook that has allowed me to keep up with
friends......new ones and old ones.
"Make new friends but keep the old.
One is silver and the other gold."
I think I may know who it's for! Addie will love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are right! I am going to do up one and make it frilly!! I can see some pink happening somewhere on it!
ReplyDeletethat is precious....you did a great job...
ReplyDeleteI love it, Linda...you did a great job and your heart is in it!

I can imagine that this will be a favorite gift - and one that will be used all his life because it will be just as nice for a 'big boy'.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Very inspiring, too, because I have a huge box of pant legs I've cut from denim, just waiting to make a quilt. I'm just scared I'll make a mess of it once I start cutting squares and sewing. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeletePrecious idea!
