Mayflies and June Bugs in APRIL!

Louis Dean and I were ending our evening in the gazebo last night and I commented on the HUGE number of May flies and June bugs we are having.....so early! This is only APRIL!

They were flying all over the place and we had to keep our drinks covered at all times! As we were lamenting over the number of pesky - however - harmless critters, Louis Dean said, "BIRDS!! Our BIRDS are gone!" Due to hawks nesting in a neighborhood tree......it is so true the birds who would normally be feasting on all this manna from heaven are NOT!

Change one thing in the food chain and it all changes! AND the really bothersome insects like mosquitoes and flies are not out in full force yet! They do not usually arrive until Mother's Day or there abouts. I am so hoping the hawks will have moved on by then!!

  1. Have you considered asking local authorities if there is anything which can be done, about this hawk nest? Perhaps if all the neighbors got together and signed a petition or something...

With the insect infestation just waiting to happen, this isn't just about missing seeing pretty birds around your neighborhood. This is something which could be serious.

I happen to look on mosquito bites as possibly serious! They can carry some nasty sickness.

Good luck! Hope you don't take this messing with your local nature balance, sitting down.

    Gentle hugs,
    .♥.

  3. Let me try this again...I agree with the post above. You might want to check out the possibilities of having that nest removed by the appropriate authorities.
I'd hate to see the number of mosquitos we'd have if the birds were gone. It's bad with them. My mom has some hawks in her area and is always worrying about her little yorkie getting snatched up.
Oh and Thanks for your ever encouraging words on my blog. My next blog may be a little squirrelly. Taxes and quilting... hmm. lol

  5. Superb blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

I'm hoping to start my own site soon but I'm a
little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option?

There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Bless you!
