Morning Coffee With the Insurance Salesmen!

We enjoy our morning coffee out in the gazebo and one of our favorite things to do is watch the 'insurance salesmen.' That's what Louis Dean calls the geckos who run around all over our property....front and back! We dearly love our geckos.....they eat a TON of pesky insects and make our life MUCH more comfortable as we sit outside!

This morning we were treated to a real adventure. The gecko had stalked this moth and lunged at it three times before successfully catching it in a firm grip! We were waiting with bated breath to see the outcome!

It was a MOUTH FULL!!!

Louis Dean said this moth was to the gecko what one of the Buffalo Burgers from
The Wines of Colorado would be to him! We were in The Springs area on vacation last fall and LD fondly remembers our visit to this beautiful place! I had a glass of the best Riesling I have ever tasted! We enjoyed our creek side dining experience and plan to return NEXT fall! Summer recommended this place to us and WE can highly recommend it to YOU!!

Now.....back to the gecko watching!!!

I LOVE our mornings! We finally get to have our blankets to keep us cozy in the morning chill!

Coffee's done....time to move on with our day....

Louis Dean already has the pots primed and ready for another round in the morning!

A cup of coffee - real coffee - home-browned, home ground, home made, that comes to you dark as a hazel-eye, but changes to a golden bronze as you temper it with cream that never cheated, but was real cream from its birth, thick, tenderly yellow, perfectly sweet, neither lumpy nor frothing on the Java: such a cup of coffee is a match for twenty blue devils and will exorcise them all.”

Henry Ward Beecher quotes (Liberal US Congregational minister, 1813-1887)

  1. We have all kinds of geckos too. They really are fascinating to watch. Love to sit outside with my coffee and just enjoy the cooler air.

You asked how long it took to do all of my cabinets. I really don't remember. I did the inside of a door first, then did another one to really figure out how long to let the wax sit, because I let it stay on too long on the first door and I had to rub it to death to get it all rubbed out. Then I just started. I think I did all of the top cabinets one day, and then all of the bottom ones another day. I didn't have any hardware on the doors at the time, so it was really easy to rub and buff them. Test out your technique, it really isn't all that hard. Hugs, Marty
