I love that the recipes are all hand written out! (I studied graphology in years past and continue to notice handwriting.)
It's also interesting to read the tidbits of wisdom from these old books. Timeless....and priceless!
This is the finished product I shared with my art class tonight! Especially good with brown sugar frosting like my mother used to make! We simply ate them plain this evening. Healthier that way!
I found this book on eBay....it is from The First Christian Church of which my husband and I are members. Now I come from a Baptist background and he was Church of Christ.....so Disciples was a very good choice for us. When I googled First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to find a local congregation.....this cookbook on eBay popped up!! I HAD to buy it, don't you agree? I have since come to know and love a couple of beautiful ladies whose recipes were featured in this 1970 publication! I will close with a page featuring one of the ladies, Cattie's, recipes. By the way....she is the one who gave me the delicious coleslaw I served recently at one of my gazebo lunches! I wonder where MY cookbooks will end up someday.....someone may see THEM in a garage sale somewhere and feel compelled to give THEM a home! I hope they enjoy them as much as I have!
Linda,
ReplyDeleteThose little church cookbooks are the best! Mine look just like yours, falling apart and stained. Something very comforting about that, tho :)

Thanks for stopping by, Linda. Always love visitors !
ReplyDeletePlease be patient as I am in the process of combining two blogs and it seems to be taking forever. I just hope I don't repeat myself !!
I think I am hooked up with Google Reader now, though.
Enjoy your day.
