Jingle! Jingle!! Preparing for Christmas Eve.....

This is my last day of prepping for Christmas Eve......
and I took my morning coffee and walked through the house admiring the decorations and thanking God for all his blessings.

Louis Dean set up a table in the den for added place settings.......
I'm looking forward to 20 people sitting down to Christmas Eve dinner!

Tabitha thinks it's a new place just for her!
(I washed it and will put it back out tomorrow once the cats are confined in the guest room.)

Louis Dean has been doing Honey- do things for me all day long.
It was his idea to replace the pumpkin with a Merry Christmas plaque I painted back in the 90's.

He's cleaned out the back pond......

and he's alrready spent the last 3 days cleaning out the one across from the kitchen French doors.

With such warm weather in Texas, we are sure to be spending some time outside !

I decided on a Pistachio Cake for dessert.....

I have made this so many times and it's always good!

Next up?? Pepper poppers!
It was such perfect weather that I went out on the deck to prep them while Louis Dean was still working on the pond.

All ready to put in the oven as soon as we get home from Christmas Eve service tomorrow.

They did not print the year on the old recipe books but I know this one from Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk was in the late 1960's.
I didn't always date my recipes!

We started watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation this evening - neither one of us have seen the whole movie -

and when it got to the part about the Christmas lights - I remembered something!
I had meant for us to redo the lights strung across the driveway.
Last year's colored ones burned out months ago and the LED ones had started to sag.
I paused the movie and jumped up to go out - and Louis Dean was right behind me!
Not every husband would get up after working hard and had just settled down to rest -.
but he's not just any husband.

He truly is my Knight in Shining Armor!!

So I  close tonight's journal entry with a laugh......

Who decorates the water tank on their toilet???
I do! I DO!!!

Merry Christmas Eve's Eve!!!

i have never met anyone who decorated the toilet except for you, but that is not a shocker because you are the queen of all decoraters and we all know it. Enjoy your plenty of twenty guests dinner tonight. Merry Christmas to all of you...

By the time you read this comment, your Christmas eve gathering and Christmas day celebration will have passed, Linda. You and Louis Dean put much effort into your food prep and decorations, and it shows in this post. Sending my best wishes for a belated holiday and the best for the New Year. You are both such a selfless and giving couple.
